Karin Jamieson

Karin Jamieson didn't start out as a fine jewelry designer. But her prior career as a financial advisor for a large company has helped her to understand the business of jewelry, which is crucial in the market today. Her eye for unusual gems and clean sculptural lines for pieces that are at once bold but completely wearable led up to the launch of the Karin Jamieson collection at JCK Las Vegas 2012 where she was chosen a Rising Star.

After obtaining a B.S. in Marketing, Jamieson went to work for Edward Jones. I felt stifled creatively and decided as a hobby to take courses from GIA. I was hooked on gems and gemology."

She left her successful career in finance, to pursue her new passion, got a part time job at Cincinnati Tiffany & Co. in sales and began studying to become a graduate gemologist. She became a Graduate Gemologist in 2008.

In 2009, personal shopping for clients and trunk shows came next, which also taught her what women wanted in their jewelry. With a fully rounded background, she has also created a collection that evokes her affinity for large, powerful and extraordinary gemstones in various color palettes.

Based in Cincinnati, Jamieson works with old school third generation bench jewelers. She describes her aesthetic as "big bold, stand out pieces without the glitz. The interest always comes from the gem, its inherent natural flaws which create the beauty in it." She adds, “The stones dictate the shape of the design as well as the color of the metal. The collection is streamlined, sculptural and monochromatic in feel. Each piece is a limited edition in that no two gems will ever be the same.
